High Mowing Organic Sage Seeds

Gray-green leaves are soft and aromatic, imparting a moreish flavor to soups, stews, gravies and stuffing. A flowering perennial and staple of the herb garden, plants are woody and strong, sending up beautiful purple flowers that attract pollinators. Woody stems and flowers can be dried for floral arrangements. Can be cut back in fall for bountiful regrowth in spring.

Sowing Information:

  • Light: Full sun to part shade
  • When to Start Inside: 1 to 2 weeks after your average last frost date, when the soil temperature is at least 50Β°F.
  • When to Sow Outside: RECOMMENDED. 6 to 8 weeks before your average last frost date.
  • Seed Depth: ΒΌ inch
  • Seed Spacing: A group of 3 seeds every 12–18 inches
  • Row Spacing: 18 inches
  • Thinning: When 2 inches tall, thin to 1 every 12–18 inches
  • Days to Emerge: 7–21 days
  • Days to Maturity: 70

Growing Notes:

  • Harvesting: You may start harvesting leaves when plants are at least 6 inches tall. When plants are about 12 inches tall, stems can be cut just as flowers are opening to be dried.
  • Variety Information: Grey-green foliage with pebbly texture on a semi-woody shrub. Purple-blue edible flowers bloom in whorls on spikes above the foliage.
  • Hardiness: Perennial in USDA zones 4–8
