High Mowing Organic Curly Roja Kale Seeds

Densely frilled leaf edges, stunning purple-sage color, deep purple stems, and cold-hardiness are all elements of an exquisite kale bunch that holds well after harvest. It's a versatile kale suitable for various culinary applications, including stir-fries, kale chips, kale salads, and pickling. 

Sowing Information:

  • Light: Full sun to part shade
  • When to Start Inside: Start transplants 4 weeks before planting date.
  • When to Sow Outside: Direct sow as soon as soil can be worked. 
  • Seed Depth: 1/4-1/2 inch
  • Seed Spacing: Babyleaf - Direct seeding: ~60seeds/ft in 2-4" bands; Full Size leaves-12-18”
  • Row Spacing: 18-30” for full size
  • Thinning: For full size leaves thin plants to 4-8" depending on desired leaf size
  • Days to Germinate: 10-14 days
  • Days to Maturity: 55 days

Growing Notes:

  • Harvesting: Harvest full size leaves when desired. Kale flavor sweetens after light frosts. Kale and collards are both very cold hardy, overwintering in most climates to some degree.
  • Growing Info: It's a cold-hardy variety, making it suitable for growing in cooler climates. Kale and Collards thrive in well drained fertile soil high in organic matter, with pH 6.0- 7.5.
