Characteristics

The Platycerium bifurcatum, also known as a Staghorn Fern, is a distinctive epiphytic species that produces leathery, forked fronds resembling the horns of a stag and are covered in a velvety covering of white hairs.

How to Care for Staghorn Ferns

  • Light: Bright indirect light. Direct light will burn this plant.
  • Water Preferences: This epiphytic plant absorbs water as readily through the leaves as it does the roots and loves to be misted frequently. Keep soil evenly moist.
  • Special Care/Notes: The perfect balance of water for this plant might be tricky to find, as it is sensitive to over and underwatering. Once the shield front emerges from the base of the plant, do not, under any circumstances remove it. Even if it’s brown, let another one grow back before removing the old one. Gorgeous bathroom plant.

*Plant and pot sold separately.

"It's so beautiful inside! They always have fun fairy 🧚‍♀️ garden items. The Christmas Open House is spectacular. They have a fun selection of clothes. There's a beautiful area to enjoy with turtles 🐢! And of course, they gave plenty of landscaping plants as well as indoor plants and items to care for them all!"

"I was in there today may 17th 2025 and two very lovely employees helped me out! One was a guy (cashier) other was a young woman in a hat. The guy asked if I would like the plant repotted and informed me that I needed a bigger pot for the plant to grow in. The girl walked me back to the pots and helped me pick the right size! They were very friendly and helpful they made my visit there amazing! I hope you know who I am talking about so you can give them recognition!"
