Lake Valley Daikon Minowase Radish Seeds

This Japanese culinary favorite grows long, thick, crisp white roots with mild, sweet flavor. For best results, plant to mature in cool weather. For continuous crops, plant every few weeks in loose, rich, well-drained soil beginning in early spring, or fall/winter in mild areas. Keep plants well watered.

Sowing Information:

  • Light: Full Sun
  • When to Start Inside: RECOMMENDED. 8 to 10 weeks before transplanting. Ideal soil temperature for germination is 70°–90°F. Transplant seedlings outside 2 to 4 weeks after your average last frost date, and when daytime temperatures are at least 70°F, and nighttime temperatures are at least 55°F. Mild Climates: May be sown in late summer for fall/winter crop.
  • When to Sow Outside: For Mild Climates only: 2 to 4 weeks after average last frost, when soil temperature is at least 70°F.
  • Seed Depth: Plant seeds 1/2 inch deep
  • Seed Spacing: 4 inch
  • Row Spacing: 12 inches
  • Days to Germinate: 5-10 days
  • Days to Maturity: 45 days

    Growing Notes: 

    • Harvesting: Harvest when shoulders begin to show beneath the soil.
