Characteristics

African Violets are an easy-care, common houseplant that blooms throughout the year. They have thick, hairy, ovate, dark green leaves with long petioles that are arranged in a cluster at the base of the plant. The flowers are bilaterally symmetric with five petals and can be violet, white, or pink in color.

How to Care for African Violets

  • Light: Bright to medium indirect light
  • Water Preferences: Prefers moist (but never soggy) soil.
  • Special Care/Notes: A well-draining soil mix that can also retain moisture is essential for this plant. Do not get the leaves wet when watering. The use of self-watering pots is highly recommended!

*Plant and pot sold separately.

*Ships within Colorado only* To ensure plants are delivered with the most care, we ship plants Monday-Wednesday. Plants purchased after Wednesday or over the weekend will be shipped on the following Monday. Check out our shipping policies for more information. Thank you!

"I love this place. Their customer service is absolutely outstanding. The staff has a great amount of knowledge. Anytime I have an issue with a plant, I pluck a leaf off of it put it in a ziplock bag, and then take it in. The staff easily assesses what the issues are and educates me on how to tackle the issue."
