Botanical Interests Heirloom Flat Leaf Parsley Seeds

Grown as an annual and preferred by cooks for its robust flavor, flat-leaved parsley adds a fresh, tantalizing note to omelets, stews, vegetables, and even soft cheeses and rice. The flat leaves are easy to chop. Parsley is one of the most used culinary herbs around the globe; it is also considered to aid digestion. Grow indoors for fresh parsley year-round.

Sowing Information:

  • Light: Full sun to part shade
  • When to Start Inside: 6 to 8 weeks before your average last frost date.
  • When to Sow Outside: RECOMMENDED. 4 to 6 weeks before your average last frost date, or as soon as the soil can be worked; when the soil temperature is 50º–85ºF.
  • Seed Depth: ¼ inch
  • Seed Spacing: A group of 3 seeds every 8 inches
  • Row Spacing: 16 inches
  • Thinning: When 1 inch tall, thin to 1 every 8 inches
  • Days to Emerge: 14–28 days

Growing Notes:

  • Harvesting: Pick as needed, removing entire stalks to the ground, but not removing more than 1/3 of the plant.
  • Hardiness: Biennial grown as an annual because the best flavor comes from first-year leaves. Leaves become bitter when flowers appear in the second year.
  • Variety Information: Flat, dark leaves on 8–10 inch long stems. Larger leaf than curled parsley.
  • Attributes: Attracts pollinators, good for containers

"The employees at Bath are very helpful and I didn’t have any problems finding someone to answer questions on either trip. They have a large selection and plenty of parking. They offer a lot of extras like garden art and pots."

- Heidi Schaffnit, May 2025

"One of my favorite places to get plants! The people there are always friendly and helpful. They are pet friendly, so I always bring my dog. She can be a bit much to handle in public, so I don’t take her out often. BUT whenever I go to Bath the people there always help me out with her! Every time I go to Bath I leave happier and with a new plant!"
