Characteristics
The Chlorophytum comosum, or Spider Plant, is one of the most well-known and widely cultivated houseplants around. Especially good plants for pet parents, this plant features flowing grassy leaves in varieties of white and green. They grow from a central tuft that flows gracefully out of any pot.
How to Care for Spider Plants
- Light: Thrives in bright indirect light but can easily accommodate lower light.
- Water Preferences: Allow the soil to dry out significantly between watering. Prefers periodic deep watering over frequent shallow watering.
- Special Care/Notes: A beginner favorite, the pups are easy to propagate and share with friends. Fertilize regularly with a well-balanced or high-nitrogen fertilizer. This plant is pet-friendly!

"No matter what I am at Bath for, there are always helpful employees to help me find what I need or tips on how to care for indoor or outdoor plants. They also carry pots, trellises, soil, and interesting plants of all kinds! I was also pleasantly surprised to find compost worms available for purchase without a special preorder. Thank you for being awesome!"

"I brought my girls here to have a homeschool lesson about botany for their science study! We had one of their employees, Evan, walk us around the center and take us into the greenhouses. I felt like he went above and beyond to help my girls with what they need to know and it was great! My kids had a great time and he knew what he was talking about. Thanks again Evan!"
