Characteristics
The Monstera adansonii, or Swiss Cheese Plant, is a tropical evergreen known for its fenestration-filled, heart-shaped leaves. This species makes a lovely hanging plant, but is most loved for being a fast-growing, robust climber with vines that can reach over 8 feet!
How to Care for Monstera adansonii
- Light: Thrives in bright indirect or filtered light. Direct sun may scorch its leaves if not given time to slowly acclimate.
- Water Preferences: Keep soil evenly moist and ensure the plant has proper drainage. Allow soil to dry slightly during the winter months. This plant is somewhat drought tolerant, but should not be left unwatered for long periods of time.
- Special Care/Notes: This plant wants to climb! Providing a stake and a regular well-balanced fertilizer will allow this plant to grow strong and beautiful.
