Characteristics
The Monstera deliciosa or 'Split-Leaf Philodendron' is an evergreen climbing vine that is most noted for its large, perforated leaves (fenestrations) that grow on thick plant stems with long aerial roots.
How to Care for Monsteras
- Light: Thrives in bright indirect light, although it tolerates a wide range of lighting conditions if given time to acclimate.
- Water Preferences: Allow the soil to dry somewhat between watering. Prefers periodic deep watering over frequent shallow watering.
- Special Care/Notes: During the growing season, fertilize every other week with a high-nitrogen or well-balanced fertilizer. This is a great plant for beginners.
