Characteristics

Crassula ovata, commonly referred to as a Jade plant, is an easy-to-grow succulent shrub with smooth, rounded, glossy, egg-shaped leaves clustered along thick succulent branches.

How to Care for Jade Plants

  • Light: Full to part sun. Can tolerate bright indirect light also.
  • Water Preferences: Always let the soil dry almost completely before watering again. Reduce watering frequency during the winter, and water liberally during the growing season.
  • Special Care/Notes: These plants make excellent bonsai specimens as they do very well when root-bound. The best time to repot is when new growth appears for the upcoming growing season. Prune to encourage branching.

To ensure plants are delivered with the most care, we ship plants Monday-Wednesday. Plants purchased after Wednesday or over the weekend will be shipped on the following Monday. Check out our shipping policies for more information. Thank you!

"Just wanted to give a shout-out to both Megan and Cole who planted a new tree for us. It was hot when they were planting but they took time to make sure the placement was perfect. They also were great in explaining the maintenance that will be needed. Very professional and super attitudes…..great employees!"

"Always a good place every July/August to get Palisade’s Peaches. Colorado’s favorite."

- Marielle Phillips, July 2025

"Bath Garden Center has a huge selection of plants. I always buy more than I planned on buying. I'd like to say I hate them for it... But I actually love their selections! And the staff are friendly and helpful. Always a great place to go! 😀"

- Abby Hadachek, May 2023

"Every time I've gone into this place has been a lovely time. Their plant selection is terrific, with beautiful sculptures and even turtles hanging out! Took a class with Evan today and made bookmarks, I plan on coming back to take more classes."
