Characteristics

Maidenhair ferns are known for their delicate, airy fronds. These ferns come in over 250 varieties, but most share similar characteristics. Their fronds are typically a soft green and fan out on thin black or dark purple stems.

How to Care for Maidenhair Ferns

  • Light: Indirect medium light. Too much light will cause the plant's leaves to dry out and turn brown.
  • Water Preferences: Keep soil evenly and consistently moist. These ferns prefer light, fast-draining soil and high humidity. Consider amending potting soil with perlite.
  • Special Care/Notes: Plants that like ample and consistent moisture need soil that can drain and retain enough moisture to stay moist, but not waterlogged. A top-dressing of bark can help increase humidity around the plant without increasing watering frequency.

*Ships within Colorado only* To ensure plants are delivered with the most care, we ship plants Monday-Wednesday. Plants purchased after Wednesday or over the weekend will be shipped on the following Monday. Check out our shipping policies for more information. Thank you!

"Just wanted to give a shout-out to both Megan and Cole who planted a new tree for us. It was hot when they were planting but they took time to make sure the placement was perfect. They also were great in explaining the maintenance that will be needed. Very professional and super attitudes…..great employees!"
