Characteristics

The Donkey Tail succulent, also known as Sedum morganianum, is a captivating succulent prized for its cascading, teardrop-shaped leaves. The leaves are a vibrant blue/green and often dusted with a powdery blue waxy coating called farina. This coating helps protect the plant from sun and excessive moisture loss.

How to Care for Donkey Tail Plants

  • Light: Bright indirect light
  • Water Preferences: Always let the soil dry almost completely before watering again. Reduce watering frequency during the winter, and water liberally during the growing season, allowing soil to dry out between waterings.
  • Special Care/Notes: Donkey Tails like to be slightly root-bound. Repot only when the roots outgrow the current pot, choosing a container with drainage holes that's just slightly larger than the root ball.

*Ships within Colorado only* To ensure plants are delivered with the most care, we ship plants Monday-Wednesday. Plants purchased after Wednesday or over the weekend will be shipped on the following Monday. Check out our shipping policies for more information. Thank you!

"I was in there today may 17th 2025 and two very lovely employees helped me out! One was a guy (cashier) other was a young woman in a hat. The guy asked if I would like the plant repotted and informed me that I needed a bigger pot for the plant to grow in. The girl walked me back to the pots and helped me pick the right size! They were very friendly and helpful they made my visit there amazing! I hope you know who I am talking about so you can give them recognition!"
