Characteristics

Crotons are a common houseplant most recognizable by their striking foliage, especially the Iceton Croton. This tropical plant has brilliant-colored leaves that begin a bright yellow and transition to magenta and red as they age. The leaves are thick and leathery and can be anywhere from 2 to 12 inches long.

How to Care for Crotons

  • Light: Bright to moderate filtered light. If a Croton is getting too little light, its newer leaves will be less colorful.
  • Water Preferences: Water thoroughly and allow the plant to significantly dry out between watering.
  • Special Care/Notes: Especially prone to spider mites, it is best to work in insecticidal soap preventative care every now and then. Gently wipe the leaves with a moist cloth twice a month to keep them clean and dust-free.

To ensure plants are delivered with the most care, we ship plants Monday-Wednesday. Plants purchased after Wednesday or over the weekend will be shipped on the following Monday. Check out our shipping policies for more information. Thank you!

"Lots of selections and great customer service."

- Matthew Maguire, May 2025

"I love this place. Their customer service is absolutely outstanding. The staff has a great amount of knowledge. Anytime I have an issue with a plant, I pluck a leaf off of it put it in a ziplock bag, and then take it in. The staff easily assesses what the issues are and educates me on how to tackle the issue."

- Jared Eckert, June 2024

"Very helpful staff and wonderful plants!"
