Characteristics

The Red Bird's Nest Anthurium (Anthurium Pachyneurium) is one of the more rare anthuriums in the Araceae family. It features large evergreen leaves with rippled, dark burgundy edges and a dark purple spathe. Its name comes from its unique growth pattern, resembling a nest, and the leaves can reach up to six feet tall! Without enough sunlight, the Anthurium will start dropping its leaves. Make sure to keep it near a window, but not in direct sunlight. Great for a statement piece on end tables or in the corner of a brightly lit room.

How to Care for Red Bird's Nest Anthurium

  • Light: Bright filtered light or indirect light. Keep out of direct sunlight.
  • Water Preferences: Water regularly, keeping the soil consistently moist but never soggy. Usually, once a week is sufficient during the growing season.
  • Special Care/Notes: Thrives in humidity coupled with bright light. It can tolerate low light, but the flowering cycle may be stunted or not occur.

To ensure plants are delivered with the most care, we ship plants Monday-Wednesday. Plants purchased after Wednesday or over the weekend will be shipped on the following Monday. Check out our shipping policies for more information. Thank you!

"Awesome selection of stuff. Staff was extremely helpful and took it to the next level in finding what I needed."

- Turboturtle, September 2024

"I love this place. Their customer service is absolutely outstanding. The staff has a great amount of knowledge. Anytime I have an issue with a plant, I pluck a leaf off of it put it in a ziplock bag, and then take it in. The staff easily assesses what the issues are and educates me on how to tackle the issue."

- Jared Eckert, June 2024

"I’ve been here many times to get irrigation supplies. I really appreciate their knowledge, patience, and assistance on the subject. I also like that in their lawn irrigation center, it’s only supplies you might need for your lawn, nothing else."

- C Way, March 2023

"Great people! Great plants."
