The common Aloe vera plant is a short-stemmed succulent shrub that has thick and fleshy leaves ranging in color from silvery green, to light green, to dark green and sometimes showing white flecks on the upper and lower stem surfaces. The margin of each leaf is serrated with small white teeth, and all of the leaves grow upright in a rosette.
