Perlite from Uni-Gro

Uni-Gro Premium Perlite is a lightweight mineral of porous granules used in container soil mixes for enhancing the retention of moisture and air. Perlite is also used as a medium for seed planting and root cuttings. Contains 100% Premium Perlite.

Soil Mixes:

To use Uni-Gro Premium Perlite in a soil mix, incorporate 1/3 perlite to 2/3 soil. The rate of application will vary depending on how compact or heavy the soil is. Heavy clay soils will take a larger percentage of perlite than sandy loam soils.

Seed Starting:

  1. Select a clean seed flat, tray, or spot and fill with Uni-Gro Premium Perlite and moisten it with lukewarm water.
  2. Sow seeds directly into the perlite per the manufacturer's recommendations on the seed packet.
  3. Place the flat, tray, or pot in a warm, well lit area and moisten frequently.
  4. Seedlings may be transplanted directly into the garden or a larger container until it has develops its second set of leaves or has attained a height of 4-6 inches.

Root Cuttings:

  1. Select a clean seed flat, tray, or pot and fill with Uni-Gro Premium Perlite and moisten it with lukewarm water.
  2. Take a 2 inch cutting from the parent plant and moisten the cut tip with water. Dip the cut end into a rooting hormone and plant the treated cut end in the prepared container.
  3. Place the container in a warm, well lit area and moisten it frequently.
  4. Within weeks, the cutting will develop roots of its own and will eventually require transplanting into a larger container.

  • Contains 4 quarts of perlite

"Very helpful and knowledgeable staff, they have all kinds of beautiful plants, useful and unique things for home and garden."

- Nicole E., March 2024

"This is a beautiful garden store in Ft. Collins, Colo. This isn't a discount store but the quality of their plants and merchandise are good quality. We are a cactus/succulent family and we found some very healthy plants, some different than we have found previously. Large facility broken up into manageable rooms for browsing. The employees are there if you need them and the young man at the register was pleasant, knowledgeable and accommodating. If you enjoy spending time at a nursery/garden store there is no reason not to enjoy the Bath Garden Center."

- Debra Harris, November 2025

"Love the pics. Will check out Bonsai class soon."

- Wendy Conn, January 2026
