Lake Valley Heirloom Winter Thyme Seeds

An attractive, hardy plant with tiny green leaves, woody stems, and masses of purple flowers in late spring. Its distinctive flavor is prized for seasoning meats, vinegars, and vegetables. Blossoms attract bees.

Sowing Information:

  • Light: Full sun
  • When to Start Inside: RECOMMENDED. 6 to 8 weeks before your average last frost date. Ideal soil temperature for germination is 70°–80°F.
  • When to Sow Outside: 1 to 2 weeks after average your last frost date, and when soil temperature is at least 68°F.
  • Seed Depth: Plant seeds 1/8th inch deep
  • Seed Spacing: A group of 3 seeds every 10 inches
  • Row Spacing: 12 inches
  • Thinning: When 1 inches tall, thin to 1 every 10 inches
  • Days to Germinate: 10-15 days
  • Days to Maturity: 70 days

Growing Notes:

  • Harvesting: Harvest individual leaves as needed for fresh use. To dry, cut back entire plant to just a few stems 4″ above the base and hang in shade to dry.
  • Attributes: Attracts Pollinators, Drought Tolerant, Deer Resistant
