Seed Savers Exchange French Breakfast Radish Seeds

A very early market garden radish of French origin. Oblong and blunt, rose-scarlet with a white tip. White crisp flesh with a mildly pungent flavor. Sow in the spring or fall and pick when small. When storing radishes, make sure to clip their tops so that the roots will last longer in storage.

Sowing Information: 

  • Light: Full Sun
  • When to Start Inside: Not recommended; roots are sensitive to disturbance.
  • When to Sow Outside: RECOMMENDED. 4 to 6 weeks before your average last frost date, and when the soil temperature is above 40°F, ideally 65°–85°F. Successive Sowings: Every 1 to 2 weeks until late spring. Sow again in late summer until 4 weeks before your average first fall frost date.
  • Seed Depth: ½ inch
  • Seed Spacing: 1 inch
  • Row Spacing: 12 inches
  • Thinning: When 1 inch tall, thin to 2 inches apart
  • Days to Emerge: 5–10 days
  • Days to Maturity: 20-30 days

Growing Notes:

  • Attributes: Organic, Fall/winter and spring radish, Oblong roots, Dark pink roots fade to white, Mildly pungent flavor.
  • Harvesting: Harvest when radish is no larger than 2 inches in diameter.
