High Mowing Lila Lu Organic Carrot Seeds

Strikingly beautiful, purple carrots with dark purple skin and cheerful, orange cores. The beauty of these long, pointy carrots is complemented by excellent texture and taste. Roots are sweet and mild without the peppery flavor often found in purple carrots. Uniform shape with good top health for fresh market bunching. The purple skin coloration runs deep into the root, making for a fully purple, peeled carrot.

Sowing Information:

  • Light: Full Sun
  • When to Start Inside: Not recommended; root disturbance stunts growth.
  • When to Sow Outside: RECOMMENDED. Direct seed as soon as soil can be worked in the spring through mid-summer.
  • Seed Depth: 1/4-1/2 inch
  • Seed Spacing: 1-2 inches apart (depending on desired size) in rows 6 inches apart
  • Thinning: When 1 inch tall, thin to 1 every 3 inches
  • Days to Germinate: 10–21 days
  • Days to Maturity: 95 days

Growing Notes:

  • Harvesting: Harvest when carrots have appropriate coloring and flavor has developed. Carrots hold well in the field for up to 3 weeks in the summer and longer in cool conditions. For storage carrots dig roots after frost but before ground freezes.
  • Attributes: Specialty appeal, 4-5 inch roots, purple when peeled, open-pollinated. Best quality arises from raised beds, free of stones and debris.

"Best garden center in Northern Colorado."

- Michael Yeazel, February 2025

"One of my favorite places to get plants! The people there are always friendly and helpful. They are pet friendly, so I always bring my dog. She can be a bit much to handle in public, so I don’t take her out often. BUT whenever I go to Bath the people there always help me out with her! Every time I go to Bath I leave happier and with a new plant!"

"Wonderful selection!"

- NM, April 2024

"What a fun and whimsical nursery. There is something for everyone. It feels like every turn you find another treasure. Pricing is boutique-like but plenty of items on the under $15 side. We went in today for greeting cards and found the perfect cards for my grandma. I've purchased many garden supplies and plants here as well. They always have great quality and variety. The owner is amazing, generous, and community focused."
