Eastern Columbine for Spring Blooms

This perennial species is found in dry woodlands and along open, rocky bluffs, hillsides and rocky beaches. A native to eastern and central North America, this species is a primary nectar source for hummingbirds and other native pollinators, and will bloom from March to July. The downward facing flowers with red sepals and yellow petals that turn red toward the end of the spur, grow on tall stems with medium-green, lobed leaves. Eastern Columbine is a hardy perennial wildflower, this species will easily re-seed and grows well in woodlands or meadows. Plant in full to part sun and this flower will normally bloom the second year of growth. Cold stratifying by placing the seed in a bag with moist peat moss in the refrigerator for 3-4 weeks prior to planting to speed up the germination process.

"Love this place always helpful."

- Marjorie Lucht, April 2024

"This is a beautiful garden store in Ft. Collins, Colo. This isn't a discount store but the quality of their plants and merchandise are good quality. We are a cactus/succulent family and we found some very healthy plants, some different than we have found previously. Large facility broken up into manageable rooms for browsing. The employees are there if you need them and the young man at the register was pleasant, knowledgeable and accommodating. If you enjoy spending time at a nursery/garden store there is no reason not to enjoy the Bath Garden Center."

- Debra Harris, November 2025

"I was in there today may 17th 2025 and two very lovely employees helped me out! One was a guy (cashier) other was a young woman in a hat. The guy asked if I would like the plant repotted and informed me that I needed a bigger pot for the plant to grow in. The girl walked me back to the pots and helped me pick the right size! They were very friendly and helpful they made my visit there amazing! I hope you know who I am talking about so you can give them recognition!"

- Candice Johnson, May 2025

"It's always good to check out the koi pond and see the turtles. The plants are beautiful, and they have a good selection of soils and pots. Awesome selection of herbs too! The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable."
