This perennial Flax species was selected for outstanding vigor, beauty, and competitiveness with grasses prevalent on sites where it was collected. Blue Flax is a hardy, relatively short-lived, naturalized perennial, 12 to 36 inches tall, with deep blue flowers that bloom profusely for about six weeks beginning in mid-May. It is well adapted to sunny open slopes, well-drained soils from moderately basic to weakly acidic, 10 to 18-inch rainfall areas, at 1,000 to 6,000 feet elevation. This is a great wildflower species to attract birds, which love the oily seeds. Single flowers range from vibrant blue to light blue on tall, branching stalks with blue-green foliage. Blue Flax seeds will germinate in about two weeks in a sunny to partially sunny location. The plants may re-seed themselves annually. Planting in the late fall to winter will allow the seeds to overcome the natural dormancy for quicker germination in the spring.
"The employees at Bath are very helpful and I didn’t have any problems finding someone to answer questions on either trip. They have a large selection and plenty of parking. They offer a lot of extras like garden art and pots."

"Epically magical plant store! The turtles, the monstera, the euphorbia, the beauty! I also was able to snag a great deal on a hoya that I've wanted for a while. All in all, a great place to stop on our road trip 😸"

"No matter what I am at Bath for, there are always helpful employees to help me find what I need or tips on how to care for indoor or outdoor plants. They also carry pots, trellises, soil, and interesting plants of all kinds! I was also pleasantly surprised to find compost worms available for purchase without a special preorder. Thank you for being awesome!"

"One of my favorite places to get plants! The people there are always friendly and helpful. They are pet friendly, so I always bring my dog. She can be a bit much to handle in public, so I don’t take her out often. BUT whenever I go to Bath the people there always help me out with her! Every time I go to Bath I leave happier and with a new plant!"
