Botanical Interests Heirloom Cucumber (Marketmore)

Introduced in 1968 by Cornell University, 'Marketmore' is a beautiful, dark green cucumber that's ready to pick when 6"–8" long. Fruits keep their size and shape even under poor weather conditions, unlike other varieties that may curl and become misshapen. The 4'–6' long vines continue to produce with regular picking. Disease resistant.

      Sowing Information:

      • Light: Full sun
      • When to Sow Outside: RECOMMENDED. 1 to 2 weeks after your average last frost date, and when the soil temperature is at least 60°F, ideally 70°–90°F.
      • When to Start Inside: 2 to 4 weeks before your average last frost date. Cucumbers are sensitive to root disturbance; sow in biodegradable pots.
      • Seed Depth: ½ inch
      • Seed Spacing: A group of 2 seeds every 12 inches in rows spaced 36 inches apart
      • Thinning: When 3 leaves, thin to 1 plant every 12 inches
      • Days to Germinate: 5–10 days
      • Days to Maturity: 60 days

                    Growing Notes:

                    • Harvesting: Pick, and pick some more! Overly mature cucumbers on the vine will slow the production of new cucumbers. Cut the stem rather than pulling at the fruit, as stems are fragile. To increase the quality and storage time, once picked, immediately immerse in cold water to disperse "field heat".

"Wonderful, knowledgeable employees and beautiful plants both indoors and out."

                    - Cindy Wiley, May 2023

"Bath's warranty on trees is for real and ended up being a great deal for us. Recently back in and guidance was calming, helpful, and kind concerning recent projects."

                    - Erica Waters, April 2023

"This is a beautiful garden store in Ft. Collins, Colo. This isn't a discount store but the quality of their plants and merchandise are good quality. We are a cactus/succulent family and we found some very healthy plants, some different than we have found previously. Large facility broken up into manageable rooms for browsing. The employees are there if you need them and the young man at the register was pleasant, knowledgeable and accommodating. If you enjoy spending time at a nursery/garden store there is no reason not to enjoy the Bath Garden Center."
