Botanical Interests Organic Carnival Blend Carrot Seeds

Dare to be different! A colorful surprise in the garden and on the table, this fun mix is high in nutrition and flavor. Kids love the colors! Grown and eaten in Asia and Europe 1,000 years ago, these colorful carrots are available once again. Just like the popular orange carrots, red, purple, white, and yellow carrots contain plenty of vitamin A and other healthful nutrients. Carnival Blend carrots can also be harvested when only 3"-4" long for gourmet baby carrots.

Sowing Information:

  • Light: Full sun
  • When to Start Inside: Not recommended; root disturbance stunts growth.
  • When to Sow Outside: RECOMMENDED. Sow 2-4 weeks before the last frost when the soil temperature is at least 45°F, ideally 60°–85°F. Successive Sowings: Every 3 weeks until 10 to 12 weeks before your average first fall frost date.
  • Seed Depth: Plant seeds ¼” deep.
  • Seed Spacing: Space seeds every 1” with rows 6” apart.
  • Thinning: Thin to one plant every 3” when seedlings are 1” tall.
  • Days to Germinate: 10-25 days
  • Days to Maturity: 65-75 days

Growing Notes:

  • Harvesting: For best flavor and texture, harvest carrots any time before, and until they reach their optimal size. The peak harvest period lasts about 3 weeks, longer in the fall. Late summer-sown carrots are sweetened after having been kissed by light frost; however, harvest before soil freezes, which may destroy the crop. In USDA zone 5 or warmer, carrots can be left in the ground for storage provided they are heavily mulched; harvest as needed on days the ground is not frozen.
  • Variety Information: PURPLE: Purple skin, orange interior, tapered roots. RED: Red skin, yellow interior, rounded ends. YELLOW: Yellow skin, yellow interior, tapered roots. WHITE: White skin, white interior, rounded ends. ORANGE: Orange skin, orange interior, tapered roots.

"No matter what I am at Bath for, there are always helpful employees to help me find what I need or tips on how to care for indoor or outdoor plants. They also carry pots, trellises, soil, and interesting plants of all kinds! I was also pleasantly surprised to find compost worms available for purchase without a special preorder. Thank you for being awesome!"

"Just wanted to give a shout-out to both Megan and Cole who planted a new tree for us. It was hot when they were planting but they took time to make sure the placement was perfect. They also were great in explaining the maintenance that will be needed. Very professional and super attitudes…..great employees!"
