Botanical Interests Organic Heirloom Di Cicco Broccoli Seeds

An Italian classic, 'Di Cicco' is a superb variety, producing numerous, small to medium-sized heads well into the summer for more delicious broccoli more often! We recommend harvesting the main head when it is 3" in diameter; this will encourage side shoots. 'Di Cicco' is a good freezer variety; leaves are also edible, cooked like chard. Seeds are excellent for sprouting!

Sowing Information:

  • Light: Full sun - partial shade
  • When to Start Inside: RECOMMENDED. 4 to 6 weeks before transplanting outside after your average last frost date, or 12 weeks before your average first fall frost date.
  • When to Sow Outside: 4 to 6 weeks before your average last frost date, or when the soil temperature is at least 40°F, ideally 60°–85°F. Also in late summer for fall harvest.
  • Seed Depth: Plant seeds ⅛ inch deep.
  • Seed Spacing: A group of 6 seeds every 18 inches
  • Thinning: When 2" tall, thin to 1 every 18 inches
  • Days to Germinate: 7–14 days
  • Days to Maturity: 48 days

Growing Notes:

  • Harvesting: Before florets open, when the head is 3" in diameter, cut the stem below the head, leaving branching leaves. This will encourage large numbers of side florets.
  • Variety Information: 3"–4" bluish-green central head, followed by lots of smaller florets. Leaves are dark green. 'Di Cicco' is a popular, reliable European heirloom introduced in 1890. Produces over a long period of time.

"Amelia was a great help today assisting us in finding some plants for our yard. I would highly recommend her and Bath Garden Center and Nursery for any of your landscaping needs."

"Tons of roses to look at. Beautiful"

- Tiffany Oster, June 2024

"They have so much fun stuff to look at even if you're not buying plants! They also have a cool deal where, if you buy the container and the plant, they'll plant it for you. There's clothes, kitchen stuff, kids stuff, books, nick snacks, etc. My mom and I go in just to hang out and look at stuff sometimes, but last time, I got this plant. It went from beautiful to MAMMOTH and beautiful. We named her Victoria."
