Botanical Interests Organic Salad Mix Sprouts

The Botanical Interests custom mix of alfalfa and red clover combine with the lively tanginess of broccoli and kale for a full flavor experience, while the burgundy amaranth provides a pop of color. The beauty, texture, and mingled flavors of these fresh sprouts will excite your palate! This special mix highlights the flavor of each component in a perfect balance. Try these sprouts on sandwiches, hamburgers, tacos, and scrambled eggs or omelets. Add as a topper to soups and stews.

Sprouting Notes:

  • Soak your salad mix seeds in water for 8-12 hours
  • Place them in your sprouting container in a warm area (70ºF)
  • Rinse salad mix sprouts at least twice daily for 5-7 days until sprouts' small leaves turn green
  • Sprouts can be exposed to indirect light, although it isn't necessary

Harvesting:

  • Enjoy Salad Mix sprouts when the tiny leaves have turned green, usually 5 to 7 days after starting.
  • Salad Mix sprouts have hulls (the outer seed covering), which can loosen during soaking and rinsing. Although the hulls are edible, you may choose to remove them for better sprout flavor or to reduce the chance of mold due to excess moisture.
  • To separate the hulls, empty your sprouts into a large bowl and fill it with cool water. Move the sprouts around in the water disentangling the sprouts and loosening the hulls, which will float to the top. The hulls can then be skimmed or poured off. Remove any unsprouted seeds at this time, too.
  • When you're ready to harvest, rinse and drain thoroughly so they are dry to the touch. (Excessive moisture reduces sprouts' storage life.) Your sprouts are then ready to eat or store!

"This is a beautiful garden store in Ft. Collins, Colo. This isn't a discount store but the quality of their plants and merchandise are good quality. We are a cactus/succulent family and we found some very healthy plants, some different than we have found previously. Large facility broken up into manageable rooms for browsing. The employees are there if you need them and the young man at the register was pleasant, knowledgeable and accommodating. If you enjoy spending time at a nursery/garden store there is no reason not to enjoy the Bath Garden Center."
