Botanical Interests Smoothie Mix Baby Greens Seeds

Don't want to eat your veggies? Drink them instead! This low-calorie mix of baby greens supplies nutrients and mild flavor. Smoothie Mix baby greens can be grown indoors at any time of year and are a nutrient-packed way to get your "green fix" in the winter. Move containers as needed for best light exposure and temperature. Harvest when 2"–4" tall and enjoy in delicious and nutritious smoothies! Sow indoors any time of year! Mix includes: 30% spinach, 25% Early Wonder beet, 25% swiss chard, 15% lettuce, and 5% Bull's Blood beet

Sowing Information:

  • Light: Indirect light
  • When to Start Inside: RECOMMENDED. Sow indoors any time of year, with indoor temperatures 60°–75°F. Successive Sowings: Every 2 weeks for a continual supply.
  • When to Sow Outside: 2 to 4 weeks before your average last frost date, when soil temperature is at least 50°F, ideally 60°–70°F. Successive Sowings: Every 2 weeks until 2 weeks before the first fall frost.
  • Seed Depth: Plant seeds ⅛-¼ inch deep
  • Seed Spacing: Space seeds ¾ inch apart
  • Thinning: Not required
  • Days to Germinate: 5-10 days
  • Days to Maturity: 25-35 days

Growing Notes:

  • Variety Info: A mix of red and green leaves, harvested when young for tender, nutrient-rich greens.
  • Harvesting: When seedlings emerge, the first pair of leaves to show are the cotyledons, which can look very different from the leaves that follow, called "true" leaves. Smoothie Mix baby greens are ready to harvest 25 to 35 days after sowing, when they have true leaves, at 2"–4". Slow growers, or cool growing temperatures may require more time. Harvest by cutting just above the soil line. For more than one harvest (up to 3 before flavor declines) leave about 1/2" of leafy growth on the small plants so they can regenerate.
  • Special Care: Good air circulation is important to help prevent fungal disease. If using a fan, avoid aiming the fan directly at the growing medium as it may dry the medium quickly; instead, bounce the airflow off a neighboring wall or the ceiling to create air movement in the general area.

"I’ve been here many times to get irrigation supplies. I really appreciate their knowledge, patience, and assistance on the subject. I also like that in their lawn irrigation center, it’s only supplies you might need for your lawn, nothing else."

"Every time I walk into Bath I’m greeted by the kindest and most helpful people! Additionally they have a fantastic selection of everything you can think of! (I’ve even bought clothing and jewelry here! It’s much more than just a nursery). Today I had the good fortune of being greeted and helped by Wyatt. I went in with absolutely no idea what to do with my garden spaces…they’re huge and overwhelming. I showed Wyatt photos of my spaces and jokingly asked Wyatt if he could just design my spaces for me….and he replied “yes!”….he took me around, asked what I liked, told me how to mix color, grasses and heights, etc…he was a wealth of info and help! I’m so grateful and I love how it all turned out! Thank you, Bath, for having great products, and a special BIG shoutout to Wyatt! You are awesome!!! (Also, Wyatt should get a bonus because I walked out with 22 perennials😂)."

"No matter what I am at Bath for, there are always helpful employees to help me find what I need or tips on how to care for indoor or outdoor plants. They also carry pots, trellises, soil, and interesting plants of all kinds! I was also pleasantly surprised to find compost worms available for purchase without a special preorder. Thank you for being awesome!"
