Botanical Interests Organic Bouquet Dill Seeds

Particularly good for pickling because of early and abundant seed production, 'Bouquet's' foliage is also delicious sprinkled on potatoes, tomatoes, salmon, spinach, cucumbers, and lamb chops. Very aromatic. Dill is an important host plant for caterpillars of swallowtail butterflies.

Sowing Information:

  • Exposure: Full sun
  • When to Sow Outside: RECOMMENDED. 1 to 2 weeks before your average last frost date, and when the soil temperature is at least 60°F. Successive Sowings: Every 2 to 3 weeks to ensure a continual fresh supply of foliage and seeds.
  • When to Start Inside: 8 to 10 weeks before your average last frost date. Sow in biodegradable pots that can be planted directly in the ground.
  • Days to Emerge: 20–25 days
  • Seed Depth: Press into the surface
  • Seed Spacing: A group of 3 seeds every 4 inches with rows spaced 12 inches apart
  • Thinning: When 3 inches tall, thin to 1 every 4 inches

Growing Notes:

  • Harvesting: Fresh foliage can be harvested any time until plant flowers. Cut leaves as close to stem as possible. Seeds should be harvested 2 to 3 weeks after flowering begins, after the flower heads have turned brown. Cut flower heads with stem and place in paper bag before seed becomes too mature and falls to the ground. Heads should be placed in bottom of bag and the top of the bag should be tied shut around the stems. Seeds will fall to the bottom of the bag. Store seeds in airtight glass jar.

  • Variety Info: Bouquet' has 6" flower heads with several umbels of tiny yellow flowers; dark green lacy foliage.
