Characteristics

Schefflera 'Amate' (Schefflera actinophylla 'Amate'), commonly known as an Umbrella Tree or Octopus Tree, is an easy-to-care-for tropical houseplant that can grow up to 10 feet tall. It is perfect for a large, naturally lit corner of your home or office. The Schefflera 'Amate' has broad, glossy green leaves and develops from bushy to a tree form as it ages.

How to Care for Umbrella Trees

  • Light: Medium to bright indirect light
  • Water Preferences: Allow the soil to dry significantly between watering. Prefers periodic deep watering over frequent shallow watering.
  • Special Care/Notes: Rotate your plant periodically to allow sun exposure on all sides if it's placed in a corner.

*Ships within Colorado only* To ensure plants are delivered with the most care, we ship plants Monday-Wednesday. Plants purchased after Wednesday or over the weekend will be shipped on the following Monday. Check out our shipping policies for more information. Thank you!

"They have so much fun stuff to look at even if you're not buying plants! They also have a cool deal where, if you buy the container and the plant, they'll plant it for you. There's clothes, kitchen stuff, kids stuff, books, nick snacks, etc. My mom and I go in just to hang out and look at stuff sometimes, but last time, I got this plant. It went from beautiful to MAMMOTH and beautiful. We named her Victoria."

"Epically magical plant store! The turtles, the monstera, the euphorbia, the beauty! I also was able to snag a great deal on a hoya that I've wanted for a while. All in all, a great place to stop on our road trip 😸"
