Lake Valley Wild Arugula Heirloom Seeds

More intense, pungent flavor than cultivated arugula, and is more heat and cold-tolerant. Its flavor can be described as peppery or mustardy with a hint of nuttiness. Very slow to bolt. Traditionally collected in the wild and used as an herb or salad green.

Sowing Information:

  • Light: Full sun to part shade
  • When to Start Inside: Not recommended.
  • When to Sow Outside: RECOMMENDED. 2 to 4 weeks before your average last frost date, when soil temperature is at least 40°F; ideally 50°–70°F. Successive Sowings: Every 3 weeks until 4 to 6 weeks before your average first fall frost date.
  • Seed Depth: Plant seeds ¼ inch deep
  • Seed Spacing: A group of 3 seeds every 6 inches
  • Row Spacing: 6 inches
  • Thinning: When 1/2 inch tall, thin to 1 every 6 inches
  • Days to Germinate: 10-15 days
  • Days to Maturity: 50 days. Tender baby greens are ready in 30 days, at 2-4 inches tall.

Growing Notes:

  • Harvesting: Cut with scissors about one inch from ground when leaves are two to four inches long. Cut frequently for best production. First year plants may grow all season without bolting.
  • Attributes: Good for containers
