Lake Valley Colorama Geranium Seeds

Geraniums are one of the most popular and low maintenance plants for gardens and containers. In winter, blooming Geranium brightens a sunny windowsill, lasting for years when lifted and brought indoors. Remove spent blossoms regularly for the best appearance. Learn how to grow geraniums for long lasting blooms!

Sowing Information:

  • Light: Full sun
  • When to Start Inside: Start indoors in a warm location about 3 months before you want plants to bloom. Keep soil evenly moist and feed with half strength fertilizer every two weeks.
  • When to Sow Outside: Transplant to a larger container as the plants become crowded. Cuttings from older plants may be rooted in moist sand to multiply plants.
  • Seed Depth: Surface to ⅛ inch
  • Seed Spacing: An inch apart
  • Thinning: When 1 inch tall, thin to 1 every 12 inches
  • Days to Emerge: 7-10 days
  • Days to Maturity: 85 days

Growing Notes:

  • Variety Information: In cold areas, lift plants from garden in the fall. Brush off excess dirt from roots and hang in a cool cellar. In spring, cut back stems to 6″ and replant.
  • Bloom Period: All year if brought indoors
  • Hardiness: Annual
  • Attributes: Great for containers and borders of the garden

"Love this place always helpful."

- Marjorie Lucht, April 2024

"I brought my girls here to have a homeschool lesson about botany for their science study! We had one of their employees, Evan, walk us around the center and take us into the greenhouses. I felt like he went above and beyond to help my girls with what they need to know and it was great! My kids had a great time and he knew what he was talking about. Thanks again Evan!"
