German Butterball Potatoes - 6 Seed Potatoes

Have you ever tasted homegrown potatoes? Some say there is no comparison to store-bought potatoes. Homegrown potatoes are fresher, more flavorful, and healthier for you. A small number of seed potatoes will yield a few buckets of potatoes ready to eat and enjoy and can even be stored throughout the winter months. German Butterball potatoes are perfect for potato salads.

  • Light: Full sun
  • Planting instructions: To maximize your crop, keep potatoes well watered throughout the summer, but especially during the period when they are in flower and immediately thereafter. Water early in the day, this allows foliage to dry completely before the evening.
  • Harvest: Early summer to fall
  • Additional Notes: Potatoes must have well-draining, moisture-retentive, fertile soil that is high in organic matter and has a pH between 5.0 and 6.0. Do not use lime soil. The soil should be slightly acidic. To prevent disease problems, do not plant potatoes in the same bed as tomatoes. Potatoes should be rotated on a 3-year program. This means you need 3 suitable sites if you want to grow potatoes every year. Find additional care instructions here!

"Great customer service.  Prices are high, but about the same as everywhere."

- Ron Lipka, December 2023

"I was in there today may 17th 2025 and two very lovely employees helped me out! One was a guy (cashier) other was a young woman in a hat. The guy asked if I would like the plant repotted and informed me that I needed a bigger pot for the plant to grow in. The girl walked me back to the pots and helped me pick the right size! They were very friendly and helpful they made my visit there amazing! I hope you know who I am talking about so you can give them recognition!"
