Yellow Dutch Shallots - 15

The gourmet favorite! Shallot sets are easier to grow than starting from seed. These varieties multiply easily providing a fine assortment of sizes and are resistant to bolting. 

  • Light: Full sun
  • Mature Height: 12-16 inches
  • Planting instructions: Shallots require rich, moist well-drained organic soil with a pH of 6.2-6.8 in a sunny location. For best results follow the planting instructions on the back of the package.
  • Harvest: Summer
  • Additional Notes: Good weed control is essential, but be careful as young shallots are hard to distinguish from grass. Water at least once a week during dry periods. Dutch onions are much easier to grow than growing onions from seed.
  • Attributes: Deer-resistant and winter hardy
